Dr. Nathan Harness, Ph.D., CFP®, serves as the Director of the Financial Planning Program at Texas A&M University. In this role, he holds the responsibility of program management while teaching a multitude of financial planning courses. Dr. Harness is an accomplished educator with a global reach, having presented lectures on international investing, global financial risk, practice management, gender-based asset preferences, and next-generation planning, both on national and international platforms.
His intellectual contributions have been featured in publications such as Applied Economic Letters, Financial Services Review, Journal of Financial Planning, Journal of Financial Services Professionals, Financial Counseling and Planning, and the Journal of Personal Finance.
Beyond the academic realm, Dr. Harness brings decades of financial planning experience as a practitioner and, later, a consultant. His consultancy expertise has ranged from large financial institutions to individual financial planning practices, where he has provided guidance in practice management, value clarification, career development, and client acquisition.
Harness has also made contributions to the profession through his service on the CFP Board Council on Education, the Twin Cities Foundation, and the Community Foundation. His contributions to the industry have been recognized by InvestmentNews, the Financial Planning Association, and multiple academic institutions.
Dr. Harness’s greatest fulfillment is rooted in his family life. Away from his professional endeavors, you’ll find him on the baseball field, sharing smiles during dance classes, and enjoying lighthearted moments with amazing dad jokes.
