How a lender ends up on this table

We check every lender twice a year — origination fees we can't explain in one sentence, prepayment penalties, and unresponsive support lines are the fastest way to get removed. Three lenders didn't make the cut in our last review.

The order above is sorted by rate, not by who pays us the most. Every lender pays us the same referral fee if you take a loan through them, so we've got no financial reason to rank one above another.

common questions →

Before you compare

Will checking rates on multiple lenders hurt my credit?
No. Every lender in this table lets you check your rate with a soft credit inquiry, which doesn't affect your score — even if you check several in one sitting.
Why do the same credit tiers get different rates at different lenders?
Each lender uses its own risk model, so two lenders can weigh the same credit profile differently. That's exactly why comparing more than one is worth the extra two minutes — the "best" lender for your situation isn't the same for everyone.
Should I apply to more than one lender?
We'd recommend checking your rate with a few, since it's a soft pull and won't cost you anything in credit score. Just be mindful that formally accepting more than one offer at once isn't necessary — pick the best real offer once you see them side by side.
How often is this table updated?
We check every lender's rates, fees, and terms twice a year, and remove any lender whose terms stop making sense in between. If a rate looks off, it's worth double-checking directly with the lender before you apply.

Is an advertised rate my rate?

An advertised range is not a personal offer. Check the terms the lender provides for your application.
